Finance Director

The Finance Director sits on the Senior Leadership Team and is responsible for the Business Support Functions for Bender UK, including the Finance, HR, Systems and Business Support Teams. This role is responsible for ensuring the financial health of the organisation, ensuring that all financial processes and systems comply with relevant regulations and company law and that full financial control is exercised. This role is also responsible for strategic people development and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and this is done in line with the Bender Spirit. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Partnering with the MD and the Directors to develop the strategic direction of the business and to aid better understanding of strategic financial, human resource and systems issues to support this. 

  • Managing and developing the Finance, HR, Systems and Business Support Teams. 

  • Managing corporate external relationships from both a contractual and business partnering perspective: outsourced payroll services, external audit, banking, tax advisors and employment law advisors. 

  • Preparing the annual financial and headcount budgets and quarterly forecasts for approval by the MD, in line with Bender Group policy and strategic objectives. 

  • Production of the Monthly Management Accounting Pack, to include variance analysis and commentary on performance, including HR Reporting and KPI monitoring. 

  • Ensure day to day financial and HR operations are effective: transactional, tax, payroll and treasury. 

  • Monitor cash flows and ensure cash flow forecasting is accurate, ensure that the management of currency balances are appropriate. 

  • Oversight of the year end close-down ensuring the accurate production of the Annual Finance Statements in accordance with relevant regulations and legislation. 

  • Manage the annual external audit, ensuring a robust service and a clear audit report. 

  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant tax regulations and the accurate and timely submissions of all tax returns and reporting, ensuring payments are made on time. 

  • Ensuring HR policies are monitored, reviewed and updated, keeping the organisation compliant with legislation and regulation with respect to employment and HR. 

  • Working with Senior Managers to review and develop HR capacity and skills with regard to recruitment, performance management, skills development, employee relations and the development of their team to support future business objectives. 

  • Working with the SLT to ensure BUK conforms to ESG, modern slavery and other regulatory reporting requirements. Full responsibility for legal, compliance and risk management activities. 

  • Create a data driven mentality within the organisation where decisions are taken based on data and evidence. 

  • Drive business performance to deliver profitability and efficiency, ensuring operational and strategic targets are met. 

  • Drive a continuous improvement of culture, developing systems, processes, and people. 

 
Experience & Qualifications: 

  • 5 year post qualified with a recognised professional accounting body 

  • Degree (or equivalent) in a business or finance related subject 

  • Experience of strong leadership in accounting / financial management 

  • Experience of strategic and operational human resource management 

  • Experience of leading and developing teams
