Hospitals are part of the critical infrastructure. This is why the power supply in hospitals must be particularly reliable. Failures due to electrical faults should therefore be avoided at all costs.
Continuous residual current monitoring enables faults in electrical devices and installations to be detected at an early stage before critical states or shutdowns occur. Residual current monitoring can be used at various levels of the power supply (main building distribution board, sub-distribution board, etc.). The finer the residual current measurement, the easier it is to locate faults in the power supply. The measuring equipment can be easily integrated into the building management system.
In addition, we offer Bender POWERSCOUT®, a cloud-based software solution that records, stores, documents and clearly visualises all the important measured values of an electrical installation. It allows the installation status to be checked in real time anywhere in the world. POWERSCOUT® can also be used to create automated reports and send them by e-mail.
Electrical installations are becoming increasingly complex. At the same time, availability requirements are increasing. Faults in the power supply should be detected as early as possible in order to avoid failures. Energy flows and voltage quality must be monitored for this purpose.
Bender universal measuring devices help to keep an eye on power, voltage quality and other important parameters. By reporting limit value violations at an early stage, they provide the necessary information before faults or even interruptions to the power supply occur.
In order to avoid a total failure of the power supply to particularly important loads in hospitals and other medical facilities, DIN VDE 0100-710 and HD 60364-7-710 require fast and safe switching between two independent supply lines (general power supply and safety power supply).
The changeover must take place within <= 0.5 to 15 seconds, depending on the application.
The ATICS® transfer switching devices contain all the functions for switching between two independent supply lines. The integration of the power section and the electronics in a flat, compact device reduces the space required in the control cabinet, minimises the wiring work and reduces the possibility of faults. For maximum reliability, ATICS® was developed consistently in accordance with the guidelines for functional safety (SIL 2).
It is difficult to maintain an overview of the increasingly complex electrical installations in hospitals. Instead of manually recording individual measured values in a time-consuming process, all important key data needs to be recorded and analysed continuously.
We offer Bender POWERSCOUT®, a cloud-based software solution that records, stores, documents and clearly visualises all the important measured values of an electrical installation. This means that the installation status can be checked in real time anywhere in the world. POWERSCOUT® can also be used to create automated reports and send them by e-mail.
Hospitals are part of the critical infrastructure. The power supply in hospitals must therefore be particularly reliable and failures due to electrical faults must be avoided. Continuous monitoring of residual currents enables faults in electrical devices and installations to be detected at an early stage. This can prevent critical states and shutdowns.
Residual current monitoring can be used to measure residual currents in earthed power supplies. The measurement is carried out between the live conductors L1, L2, L3 and N. The advantage of residual current measurement is that residual currents are already detected in a non-critical range long before a residual current circuit breaker interrupts the power supply.
In simple terms, residual current monitoring "compares" the currents of the supply lines L1, L2 and L3 with the current of the N conductor. The magnetic fields generated by the electric current are measured. Ideally, the residual current is 0 mA. Meaning: The sum of the incoming currents is equal to the outgoing current. In this case, no residual current flows, the magnetic fields of the electrical cables cancel each other out and the measuring current transformers do not measure any residual current.
Further information can be found on our know-how page about residual current monitoring.
Bender POWERSCOUT® is a cloud-based software solution from Bender that records, stores, documents and clearly visualises all the important measured values of an electrical installation. With POWERSCOUT®, the installation status can be checked in real time anywhere in the world. Automated reports can also be created and sent by e-mail.
Wherever DIN VDE 0100-710 and HD 60364-7-710 stipulate that a total power failure must be avoided, a changeover unit must be provided. It ensures fast and safe switching between two independent supply lines (general power supply and safety power supply) within <= 0.5 to 15 seconds, depending on the application.
A changeover unit is also useful in sub-distribution boards if an uninterruptible power supply is required.
