The technology used in radio, radio play and TV studios must meet the highest standards. Many studios have to run 24/7. Continuous operation causes increased material fatigue and ageing due to its waste heat, among other things. Where lighting and media technology set-ups have to be constantly changed, there is increased strain on devices and cables. These conditions have a negative impact on the operational readiness of the entire studio technology.
If spontaneous failures of the studio technology due to electrical faults are to be prevented, the faults must be recognised as early as possible before a critical or dangerous condition occurs.
Bender offers a Condition Monitoring system with residual current monitoring for this purpose. This system permanently monitors the entire power supply for residual currents and recognises spontaneous and creeping faults before an interruption in operation occurs. In addition, condition monitoring can be used to quickly localise systematic faults in the installation (e.g. stray currents, PEN bridges). This gives studio operators the opportunity to react in a targeted manner in order to correct such errors.
Benefits for operators:
The quality and success of productions and events also depend to a large extent on the operational reliability of the technology used. Without appropriate measures, there can be no reliable and fail-safe operation.
Studio operators must observe and comply with the relevant standards and regulations to ensure the operational safety of the technology used and thus also protection against electric shock. The use of residual current circuit breakers in final circuits is essential, but this can result in possible false tripping.
In addition, all electrical systems must be inspected by certified experts prior to initial commissioning and after significant modifications prior to initial recommissioning. Repeat inspections must be carried out annually by experts and every four years by certified experts.
The studio technology must be switched off for the functional tests of the residual current circuit breakers and the annual recurrent tests. The recurrent tests are also associated with a high organisational, time and personnel expenditure.
Special measures must be taken if studio technology failures are to be avoided through recurrent tests.
With continuous residual current monitoring in the power supply, Bender offers the solution for simplified recurrent tests in accordance with DIN VDE 0105-100 and DGUV Regulation 3. * In addition, the threshold values of residual current circuit breakers in the final circuits can be monitored to prevent false tripping.
Bender POWERSCOUT® is a cloud-based software solution that records, stores, visualises and documents the residual currents of an electrical system. The measurement protocols can be used as a replacement for the insulation test, which simplifies the performance and documentation of DGUV Regulation 3 * tests.
Benefits for operators:
Note:
The residual current monitoring system from Bender can be integrated into existing studio technology.
